The Inca trail: It’s one of the most exciting and extraordinary routes of the world by de Lonely Planet, towards the golden city of the Inca empire, Machu Picchu.

The ancient path of 33 kilometers designed by the Incas. It’s covered in the “Legendary Inca Trail, Must- See” in four days/three nights, walking 8 hours per day approximately. Throughout the trek, you can gaze at the magnificent landscapes, tropical forest and clouds falling upon the peaks. This magical route goes through different Natural locations like cliffs, that makes it the most exciting and famous treks in South America.

This astounding hiking tour, it’s the most spectacular way to have your first impression of one of the seven wonders of the modern world, Machu Picchu. Just like 600 hundred years ago, when the Incas ruled the part of the world.

1st Day: Cusco - 82 Km (Piscacucho) – Wayllabamba

Our adventure begins picking you up at your hotel early in the morning. The bus goes along the Sacred Valley passing by Urubamba town and Ollantaytambo town towards Piscacucho (2,800 m.a.s.l. / 9,186 ft.) 82 kilometer of the train rail. Here, you will meet your local companions for the whole hike like; porters, cookers, tent makers, etc. While we start the trek by the sacred Urubamba riverside.

The first section of “The Legendary Inca Trail, Must-See” is very smooth and easy to walk. Also, during your hike you can look at the magnificent Veronica Snowy Mountain. After walking a couple of hours, we reach Patallacta archaeological park (2,750 m.a.s.l. / 9,022 ft). We have lunch at this beautiful Inca construction to recharge energy, later we head towards Huayllabamba, our last stop to settle our camp and get dinner.

2nd Day: Wayllabamba – Warmihuañusca – Pacaymayo

We start our second day with a delicious breakfast early in the morning. Today is challenging because we hike up to the highest part of this fascinating Inca route. At the same time, we have the chance to look at the diversity of ecosystem and the changing of vegetation.

Warmiwuañusca highest point (4,200 m.a.s.l. / 13,779 ft.), that in English means “when woman dies”. It is one of the most beautiful and astounding sites of the Inca Trail, located on top of the mountains, Warmiwauñusca offers us an incredible panoramic view of the Andes and snowy peaks around this beautiful site.

After enjoying the majestic landscape from the top of the mountain, we walk down a sinuous valley surrounded by great diversity of vegetation. Later, we have our lunch to continue our hike towards Pacaymayu Valley (3,600 m.a.s.l. / 11,811 ft.), where we rest and settle our second camp.

3rd Day: Pacaymayo – Phuyupatamarca - Wiñaywayna

Our third day starts with an energetic and delicious breakfast. Then, we ascend through to steep road until Runqurakay archaeological park (3,800 m.a.s.l. / 12,467 ft). From this point the road is stone pavement, also we can appreciate the quality of Inca engineering.

Later, we visit Sayacmarca (3,600 m.a.s.l. / 11,811 ft) a beautiful archaeological Inca construction. After, we will continue uphill until we reach our first Inca tunnel, and then we continue hiking up towards Phuyupatamarca archaeological park. Once here, we start descending into a very beautiful path, with wide range of flora and fauna typical from the jungle brow zone.

Upon the sunset we arrive to Wiñaywayna, our last stop of the day. Besides setting up the last tent and spending the night, we also say goodbye our companions like porters, cookers etc. That's why, we will have a small farewell party to thank everyone who has taken part of this wonderful and unforgettable experience.

4th Day: Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu archaeological park – Cusco

We have breakfast very early in the morning, and then we start walking until Intipunku or the Sun Gate (2,490 m.a.s.l. / 8,169 ft).

In case you want to see the sun rise, you must start walking very early in the morning to the sun gate so you can have a spectacular view of the enigmatic lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu.

After having our first impression of Machu Picchu, we descend to start our tour through the enigmatic Machu Picchu. The tour last about 2 hours, then you will have time to explore this mysterious and magical ancient city of the Incas at your own pace. At the same time, you can climb up Huayna Picchu mountain.

Finally, full of energy, we descend to Aguas Calientes by buss. You can relax and have some drinks at Aguas Caliente´s hot springs located 10 minutes walking.

In the afternoon, we have our train back to Ollantaytambo train station. Then we take a bus to Cusco. We arrive at the Cusco city around 22.30pm.
