This fascinating program is perfect for those who love bird watching over the mountains in the Malaga Pass, located to 4.200 m.a.s.l. The Malaga Pass is the heart of a great wide diversity of flora and fauna, especially of different types of birds.

1
1st Day: Ollantaytambo – Malaga Pass (cloud forest)

We pick you up from your hotel in our private transport, then we drive for one hour and twenty minutes until we pass the highest point of the journey. Later, we will arrive in Canchayoc where we will see endemic birds such as:

  • Marcapata Spinetail
  • Inca wren, Rufous Antpitta
  • White Browed Conebill
  • Unstreaked Tit Tyrant
  • Sapphare Vented Puffleg

After the first stop, we have a breakfast-box on the route. After have breakfast we continue bird watching different types of birds like:

  • Parodi's Hemispingus
  • Puna Thistletail
  • Trilling Tapaculo
  • Cusco Brush Finch
  • White throated Hawk
  • Scarlet Breasted Mountain Tanager
  • Red Crested Cotinga

After the second stop, we have a lunch-box near by San Luis town. Later, we continue bird watching on the way back in seek of:

  • Red and White Antpitta
  • Swordbill Hummingbird
  • Barred Fruiteater
  • Black Capped Hemispingus
  • Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan
  • Violet Throated Starfrontlet
  • Pale Footed Swallow
  • Brown Backed Chat Tyrant
  • Citrine Warbler
  • Moustached Flowerpiercer
  • Tree Striped Hemispingus

After observing these beautiful birds, we drive back to Ollantaytambo town to spend the night in the hotel.

Accommodation: 01 night in Ollantaytambo.

Meals: breakfast-box and lunch-box.

Duration: from 04.30 to 19.00 hours.

2nd Day: Ollantaytambo – Malaga Pass highest point – Plelipys

After an early breakfast, we start our journey, although we will short stops on the route to observe endemic birds like:

  • Chestnut Breasted Mountain Finch
  • White Tufted Sunbeam
  • Junin Canastero
  • Creamy Crested Spinetail
  • Taczanowski Tinamou

Later, we drive to the highest point 4.300 m.a.s.l. where we will walk towards Pelelipys forest to observe some typical and endemic birds of this area like:

  • White Browed tit Spinetail
  • Royal Cinclodes
  • Tawny Tit Spinetail
  • Giant conebill
  • Ash Breasted Tit Tyrant
  • Stripe Headed Antpitta
  • Blue Mantled Thornbill
  • Andean Hillstar
  • Puna Tapaculo

  • Rusty Fronted Canastero
  • Cinereous Ground tyrant

After enjoying the spectacle of the beautiful birds, we walk down to have our box lunch on the route. Finally, we drive back to Cusco.
