Is one of the alternative roads that leads you to the wonder of the world “The immortal Machu Picchu”, It begins by the route of the famous Humantay lake, at the base of the Apu Salkantay (wild mountain), from where we will start our trek to Machu Picchu, along with the incredible view of the snowy mountains range, the impressive Salkantay lagoon, then crossing the snowy mountains into a tropical jungle of beautiful woods.

1st Day: Cusco - Mollepata – Salkantaypampa

Pick up at 5:00 am from your hotel, then 2-hour bus drive to Mollepata town, where we will get breakfast.

Then, we walk around 4:00 hours to Wayracpampa, where we eat lunch with a panoramic view of the beautiful Humantay snow-covered mountain, and it is just the beginning of a great adventure. Later, we walk towards Salkantaypampa, where we will have our first camp, the highest and coldest campsite of the whole trip.

2nd Day: The mighty Salkantay

We wake up at 5 a.m. to have breakfast. Then, we start our trek towards the highest pass, Tour Items located between two huge mountains, Salkantay mountain on the right and Tucarhuay mountain on the left.

We have a view of these two incredible snowy mountains since the beginning of the hike. We will have time to rest and contemplate this beautiful view and the great panorama. We continue our journey (downhill) through a spectacular cloudy forest towards Huayracpunku, where we have lunch. After lunch, we walk for approximately 3:00 hours into the jungle until we reach our second camp.

3rd Day: Cloudy Forest

Early in the morning we start to walk through the jungle, crossing the Lluscamayo. During our journey, we pass by different valleys and we can see waterfalls, tropical fruits and plants. Also, we will camp in Sahuayacu beach, which it has a warm climate.

4th Day: Llactapata – Puente Ruinas – Aguas Calientes

This will be a great day, we will be able see Machu Picchu from the distance. We must start walking early, we get up at 6:30am. We hike for about 3 hours a steep path towards Llactapata. Llactapata is an amazing Inca Fortress from which we will see Machu Picchu from the distance. After taking pictures, we continue walking around 2:00 hours across coca and banana plantations, until the hydroelectric station.

We have lunch in the afternoon, we also say goodbye to our companions, who helped us during this fabulous trip. Later, we continue walking towards Aguas Calientes town, where we will spend the night in the hotel.

5th Day: Machu Picchu Secrets

The most important day has finally come. We will visit Machu Picchu and its magnificence therefore we have breakfast at 5.00am.

You explore Machu Picchu, an enigmatic and mysterious Inca Construction for 2 hours with your guide. The tour takes you to the most spectacular and impressive sites inside Machu Picchu like; royal mausoleum, the temple of the three windows, the main temple, the main square or sacred square, the famous Intihuatana and others. Once the tour is done, you have time to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace. After visiting Machu Picchu, you will meet up with your guide in Aguas Calientes town to have lunch and get ready to return to Cusco first by train and then bus. The train departures at 14.55 hours and it arrives in Ollantaytambo train station at 16.40 hours. Then, you take bus to Cusco, you will arrive in Cusco at 19.00 or 20.00 hours. We will drop you at your hotel.
